Detection of VRE with Spectra™ VRE agar in rectal swabs. Growth patterns affected accuracy of the agar. Confirmed cultures included those that correctly identified the species based on colony color and correctly predicted vancomycin resistance. Confirmation was done via Vitek MS and susceptibility testing. Non-confirmed cultures included the cultures that were vancomycin susceptible by susceptibility testing or incorrectly identified with color-based speciation
