Effect of biofilm presence on virus sensitivity to laser treatment. Effects of UVA1 at fluencies of 50 and 100 J/cm2 on infectivity of HSV-1 free virus particles in the presence and in the absence of C. albicans biofilm. Twenty-four hours old Candida biofilms were exposed to HSV-1. After 24 h incubation, each sample was exposed to the laser treatment and then the culture wells were thoroughly washed, scraped and the amount of the residual virus end-point titrated. Controls (no biofilm) were run in parallel. *p < 0.05
