Untreated yeasts have a compact cell wall (cw) surrounded by a polysaccharide capsule (c) (A); Yeasts treated with 1 μg/ml (B-D) and 2.5 μg/ml (E-F) show several ultrastructural alterations, such as cell-wall disruption (black arrow), presence of vacuoles (v) mitochondrial swelling (m) and many membranous structures in the cytoplasm (black arrowhead).
