Bacterial supernatants induce the secretion of IL-8 by PMN. Neutrophils were incubated at 5 × 106/ml overnight in medium alone or with supernatants of antibiotic-exposed bacteria. The IL-8 content was measured by ELISA. The results are mean ± SD of three to eight experiments. Significant differences between treated and non-treated cultures are indicated (Kruskal-Wallis test, Dunns test).
